DIY BUTTON EARRINGS

Things have been a little hectic lately. Wrapping up summer. Moving. Birthdays. Celebrations. Just life in general. But things are finally slowing down. Which finally means a little more "Me time". Every mom deserves a break now and then, which is why I love my craft group I belong to. This months past craft we did consisted of darling BUTTON EARRINGS. I'm a die hard for earrings. I love them big. I love them small. I love them colorful. I love them ALL!

(I may or may not have just finished a Dr. Seuss book with my daughter).

That's besides the point.....

Anyway, so if your looking for a fun and SUPER easy craft, that takes hardly any time. Check this out.

Supplies you will also need:
 E6000 Glue
Scissors
Needle nose pliers, or wire cutters

Directions:
Follow the directions on the back of the cover button kit. There is a template to cut out and use. (Easy peasy directions, don't worry). Once you have completed the directions, use either your needle nose pliers to bend the button loop on the back, or wire cutters to completely cut it off. Then, add a little glue and stick the earring back on and let dry over night. Easy enough? I told you!

Here are the ones I made in less than about an hour!

 Until next month....

What I made Wednesday

Let's be honest. I love crafting. Like really like crafting. However, like many of you... I'm super busy. Finding time to actually work on a project is hard to come by. So, I take advantage of nap times! That rare time when I manage to get both littles to sleep at the same time. Oh it's a beautiful thing.

While I came out victorious yesterday (I deserve a pat on the back), I was able to whip out these two 4th of July wood projects.

For those of you locals who love a good DIY craft project with very LITTLE effort, you've got to check out  The Wood Connection on state street in American Fork! It's a bit dangerous that I live right around the corner from this store. But I'll take the risk. This store has tons of awesome wood cut outs. Not to mention- the cutest holiday projects. They have them all on display, so you choose what you want to do and then pick out your paper, wire, paint, ribbon, etc. You can copy theirs exactly or add your own flare. I love that its a one stop shop, and also very affordable!

Here is what I ended up with:

Thrift shop style

Needless to say Macklemore would be SO proud of me!
A couple weeks ago I scored this little crate for a whoppin 2 bucks. I had been looking for something to place some flower pots on and when I saw this crate,  I knew immediately it was what I was looking for. With a little spray paint it looks as though it was meant for my backyard, it matches our porch swing perfectly!

While venturing around the store I also found these lovelies that I knew I could use as a flower pot:

 $1

$1
That's right, do the math! $4 for it all, and worth EVERY PENNY!

DIY Outdoor lighting

If you're like my family, there is nothing we love more than a little s'more roast out in the back yard on warm summer nights. I've been toying with the idea of finding a cute way to light the back yard. Tikki torches, light strands, etc....

I came across a wonderful idea on Pinterest and thought this would be a GREAT addition. How cheap, and easy!

Find some old light fixtures at your local D.I./thrift store:

add some of those extra strands of mini white Christmas lights you have stashed in a box somewhere:

And ta da...What a brilliant idea!!

Canning jar soap dispenser

Next up on the to do list:

I FINALLY found something to do with all those canning jars I have laying around the house.

If you're looking for a quick and easy DIY project to switch things up a little, look no further. Check these out,  they would even make a very cute homemade gift. I found these lovelies via Blissfully Content and fell in love. How simple, yet cute. I'm thinking of spray painting my lid though.(You could even repaint for different seasons, if you wanted).

The Perfect Plaque

I'm sure you've seen those funky shaped picture frames that have become all the rage lately, I see them everywhere I go! Well I've had my eye on some at a local craft store. They normally range from $11-$30 depending on the size you want. A little pricey for me, yeah but since I don't have my own wood cutting shop and can't make them myself, I was ALMOST willing to pay that price to decorate my new little ones room. That was until I had a better idea. I found THESE lovelies at Hobby Lobby for $2.99 a piece. Now these aren't picture frames, they are just plain wood plaques. However, ya add a little craft paint, a picture, and some mod podge, and TA DA! Not only do you have yourself a wonderful picture collage just like the one ya wanted, but you also saved yourself a whoppin $40, AT LEAST!

The great thing about these, is since the mod podge dries clear, you can tear off the picture (without damage to the plaque or picture) and replace it with others (which I plan on doing as Mr. M gets bigger).

Fun. Convenient. Cheap. Just the way I like it.

As part of my recent Valentine decor obsession, I stumbled across this awesome DIY banner on.... yup, you guessed it, PINTEREST! Over at Shanty 2 Chic  they have made it oh-so-convenient for us to make and print some oh-so-lovely banners. I don't know about you, but I love people who make my life easier! Its as simple as selecting a letter A-Z and clicking print. TA DA! A banner for EVERY occasion.

Where was this when I needed it two years ago? Yes this is the banner that I HAND MADE for my daughters birthday. Biggest pain. Looked cute though!!

Love Day Topiary

So for the past four years that I've celebrated Valentines as a married woman, I've never felt the need to get into the holiday. I mean REALLY.... who wants to go to the extent of decorating their house for a holiday that is over on the 14th of the month? Well, apparently everyone else EXCEPT me. So maybe it's the fact that I have children now, and I want to make things more exciting for them. Or maybe not. Maybe its just finally wearing on me and I'm joining along with everyone else. OR.....maybe it's pinterest? Yup. I'm gonna go ahead and say it's probably pinterest. You see, I have this ridiculous obsession with pinterest, and  I keep pinning all these awesome pins, and they just keep screaming at me: "Make me!" "Try me!" "Bake me!"  Needless to say, I've been a little crafty and in the Valentines Spirit! So here's my love day topiary.....

Pink crate paper: $1.00
Candle stick holder: $1.00
Styrofoam ball: $3.00
Your time: You go ahead and put a price on that one....

For the full tutorial click HERE.

Super easy. Super cheap. Right up my ally!! And wouldn't it be fun to make some for other holidays in coordinating colors? I think YEAH!!
